How does the AI forecasting work?
Import your catch history (via GPX or manual entry). The app analyzes 15+ environmental factors at each catch location, finds correlations unique to you, and generates forecasts scored 0-100 based on how closely current conditions match your success patterns.

What if I don't have any fishing history yet?
You don't need years of data to start — you need your next trip. Log catches right from your phone by dropping a pin on the map. No fishfinder or GPS device required. From your very first waypoint, Get Hooked! starts building your profile. Meanwhile, every feature works from day one: AI forecasts, live river flow, satellite imagery, bite windows, and the full map with all 12 layers.
Does Get Hooked! only work in certain regions?
Get Hooked! works anywhere you fish. Weather forecasts are global. USGS river flow covers US waterways, Environment Canada covers Canadian rivers. NOAA provides 3,400+ tide stations and 1,300+ buoys. NASA satellite imagery covers US waters. Over 600,000 points of interest — including 32,000+ boat ramps, 6,600+ marinas, 57,000+ fuel stations, and 92,000+ dams — cover North America. The AI forecasting works at any GPS coordinate on earth.
Tracking Spots
How do I import my existing waypoints?
Export your waypoints from your fishfinder or GPS as a GPX file. In Get Hooked!, tap the + button, select "Import GPX", and choose the file. All waypoints import with names and coordinates intact.
Can I share my spots with friends?
Yes! Export any selection of waypoints as a GPX file and share via text, email, or AirDrop. You control exactly which spots to share — the rest stay private.
River Features
What is the river flow data?
Get Hooked! integrates live USGS monitoring station data showing real-time flow rates (CFS). Color-coded indicators on the map show normal (green), rising (yellow), and high/blown-out (red) conditions at a glance.
Can I set alerts for river conditions?
Yes! Favorite rivers and set custom flow thresholds. Get notified when your favorite rivers hit your ideal fishing conditions.
Photo Import
Can I import my old fishing photos?
Yes! Get Hooked! uses on-device AI to scan your camera roll for fish photos. It extracts the GPS coordinates and timestamp from each photo, clusters multi-photo catches together, and lets you review and confirm before importing. Years of catch history imported in minutes. Is photo scanning private?
100% private. All scanning uses on-device machine learning (Apple's Vision framework, iOS only). No photos are ever uploaded. The AI runs entirely on your phone.
I'm switching from another fishing app. Can I bring my data?
Most fishing apps don't offer meaningful data export — but your camera roll photos still have GPS coordinates and timestamps. Get Hooked!'s Photo Import recovers what those apps locked away. If you also have GPX files from a fishfinder, those import directly too.
What happens to imported photos?
Confirmed photos are copied into Get Hooked!'s app storage (resized to 1200px, JPEG compressed). They survive camera roll deletion and are included in your .ghb backups. The originals in your camera roll are never modified.
Apple Watch
Does Get Hooked! work on Apple Watch?
Yes! The Apple Watch companion app gives you four one-tap actions: Depart (start a Float Plan trip), Return (end trip), Drop Catch (save GPS location), and Voice Catch (dictate catch details). Requires Apple Watch Series 5+ with watchOS 10.0+. Learn more about the Watch app.

Live Tracking & Safety
What is Live Tracking?
Live Tracking shows your GPS position on the map in real-time while you fish — even when the app is in the background. It uses battery-efficient 15-second intervals with a 30-foot distance filter. The map auto-follows your position until you pan away. Learn more about safety features.
What is Float Plan?
Float Plan is a safety feature for solo anglers. Set your dock location and add emergency contacts. When you leave, Get Hooked! automatically sends an SMS to your contacts with your departure info. When you return, they're notified you're back safe. Messages queue if you don't have cell service and send when you're back in range.
Does Live Tracking drain my battery?
It's designed to be battery-efficient. Updates come every ~15 seconds with a 30-foot distance filter, so it's not constantly pinging GPS. On iOS it uses optimized CLLocationManager settings; on Android it runs as a foreground service with a persistent notification.
Conditions & Weather
What's on the Conditions screen?
The Conditions screen has two tabs. The Conditions tab translates raw data into fishing-relevant insights -- quick verdict cards, solunar activity, tide stage, river flow status, wind effects, wave analysis, and pressure trends. The Weather tab gives you a Windy-style hourly grid with 15-day forecast cards, fish scoring per hour (with sized fish icons), wind direction arrows, pressure gauges, cloud cover, and sunrise/sunset markers. You can switch locations instantly with the change location pill.
What is the Bite Window Calculator?
An hour-by-hour fishing probability score from 0 to 100 for each hour of the day. It combines solunar periods, moon phase, time of day, pressure trends, temperature, wind, and YOUR historical catch data. Each hour is rated Excellent, Good, Fair, or Poor. If you consistently catch fish at certain times under certain conditions, those windows get boosted. Learn more about forecasts.
Data Export & Backup
Can I export my data?
Yes -- we will never hold your data hostage. Three export formats: GPX (standard GPX 1.1 you can load directly onto a Garmin or fish finder), CSV (25+ columns with weather data and DMS coordinates for Excel or Google Sheets), and HTML Archive -- a complete local portal you can open in any web browser without the app or internet. It includes an interactive map with all your pins, sortable catch tables, a journal timeline, your photos, monthly charts, and per-trip breakdowns. Just unzip and open index.html. How does backup and restore work?
Get Hooked! creates .ghb archive files that include your entire database and all associated files (photos, GPX imports, configurations). Each backup includes a manifest with record counts and SHA256 checksum verification. Restore on the same device or transfer to a new one via iCloud Drive, AirDrop, Dropbox, or Google Drive.
Angler DNA & Stats
What is Angler DNA?
Your fishing fingerprint across 6 behavioral dimensions: Timing, Mobility, Exploration, Conditions Tolerance, Focus, and Domain. Based on your profile, Get Hooked! assigns you one of 12 archetypes (like "The Specialist," "The Explorer," or "The All-Weather Warrior") plus 3 behavioral badges for your primary species, preferred water type, and fishing method. What are My Stats?
Your "Spotify Wrapped for fishing." Year-based analytics including totals, species breakdowns, personal records (largest fish per species), timing patterns by hour and day of week, best spots ranked, and season-in-review analytics. Plus a 3-tab Activity Feed with Catches, Trip Log, and Stats views.
Data & Privacy
Are my fishing spots shared or tracked?
Absolutely not. All your data stays on your device. We never see your locations, catches, or patterns. Zero tracking. Zero data sharing. Your spots are YOUR secrets.
