How Float Plan Works
Four steps to automated safety on every trip.
Set Your Dock
Set your home port or launch point location. This is the geofence that triggers your departures and returns automatically.
Add Contacts
Add emergency contacts with name and phone number. These are the people who will be notified when you leave and return.
Auto-Depart
When you leave your dock, Get Hooked! sends an SMS to your contacts with your departure time and location. No buttons to press.
Auto-Return
When you return to your dock, your contacts get notified that you're back safe. The trip is logged with departure and return timestamps.

Live Tracking
Continuous GPS tracking on the map while you fish.
Battery-Efficient Tracking
Updates approximately every 15 seconds with a 30-foot distance filter. Designed to track accurately without draining your battery on a long day on the water.
Background Operation
Continues tracking when the app is backgrounded. Switch to your camera, check messages, or lock your screen -- tracking keeps running.
Auto-Follow Camera
The map follows your position automatically until you pan away to explore. Tap again to re-center on your current location.
3-State Tap Logic
OFF: tap to start tracking with auto-follow. ON + following: tap to stop. ON + panned away: tap to re-center. Simple and intuitive.
Float Plan Integration
Live tracking auto-stops when Float Plan detects your return to dock. No need to remember to turn it off -- safety and tracking work together.
Visual Indicator
The floating action button icon fills and turns accent teal when tracking is active. You always know at a glance whether tracking is running.
Your Privacy
Your location data stays on your device. Float Plan sends SMS directly to your contacts -- not through our servers. We never see where you fish.
