Your phone is in a dry bag. Your hands are covered in fish slime. You just caught a monster. With the Get Hooked! Apple Watch app, you log it from your wrist in one tap — GPS coordinates, timestamp, and voice notes included.

Depart
One tap starts a Float Plan trip on your iPhone. The button turns gray and displays "Active" while your trip is running. Your emergency contacts are notified automatically.
Return
One tap ends the active trip. The button is disabled when no trip is active, preventing accidental presses. Emergency contacts are notified you returned safely.
Drop Catch
Saves your current GPS location as a waypoint on your iPhone. The screen flashes green with a "Dropped!" confirmation so you know it registered, even in direct sunlight.
Voice Catch
Opens watchOS dictation. Speak your catch details naturally — "walleye on a monkey puke, dipsey diver 85 back" — and the transcript is saved as a waypoint name with NLP parsing on your iPhone.

You talk the way you fish. Voice Catch processes your dictation through natural language parsing on your iPhone, extracting structured data from conversational input.

The full transcript is saved as the waypoint name. Voice recognition is powered by SFSpeechRecognizer on watchOS — processing happens on your wrist, and the structured data routes to your iPhone via WCSession.

Connection Status
A green or red dot with status text shows whether your Watch is connected to your iPhone. Real-time WCSession reachability monitoring means you always know before you tap.
Haptic and Visual Confirmation
Every confirmed action triggers haptic feedback on your wrist. A toast overlay confirmation appears for 2 seconds and auto-dismisses. No guessing whether your tap registered.
Built Lean on Purpose
The Apple Watch companion is a thin remote — no database on the Watch. The entire watchOS app is 5 Swift files totaling roughly 460 lines of code.
Commands are sent via WCSession to the iPhone, which routes them to the existing shared module. The Watch does one thing well: give you fast, reliable one-tap actions when your phone is out of reach.
