Common Issues & Solutions

GPX Import Issues

Problem: GPX file won't import or waypoints are missing

Solution:

  • Ensure the file is in GPX 1.0 or 1.1 format
  • Check that waypoints have valid latitude/longitude coordinates
  • Try opening the GPX file in a text editor to verify it's not corrupted
  • If importing from email, save the file to a location your device can access (Files app on iOS, Downloads or Documents on Android), then open the GPX file directly within Get Hooked!, or use a USB/SD card adapter to load files from external storage

River Flow Data Not Showing

Problem: River flow indicators aren't appearing on the map

Solution:

  • Ensure you have internet connectivity (river data requires live API calls)
  • Verify the Rivers layer is enabled in the map layers menu
  • Zoom in closer — rivers appear at certain zoom levels
  • Waterway sensors may track different data, be offline, or have delays in reporting. Not all rivers have monitoring stations with real-time flow data

Forecasts Not Generating

Problem: AI forecasts won't generate or show errors

Solution:

  • Check internet connectivity (forecasts require weather API data)
  • Verify you haven't hit your tier's forecast limit (Free: 5 total, Pro: unlimited)
  • Ensure the forecast location has valid GPS coordinates
  • Try refreshing the forecast after a few minutes

Satellite Imagery Not Loading

Problem: Satellite views show errors or blank screens

Solution:

  • Check internet connectivity (satellite data comes from NASA/NOAA APIs)
  • Verify you haven't hit your tier's satellite view limit (Free: 1 view, Pro: unlimited)
  • Try a different date — cloud cover may obscure the selected date
  • Satellite data has ~1km resolution, so very small bodies of water may not show data
  • Get Hooked! automatically detects your connection speed and data capabilities. If you have limited connectivity or data restrictions, the app may load lower-resolution imagery to provide you with a faster experience rather than making you wait for full-resolution data

Backup/Restore Issues

Problem: Backup isn't working or restore failed

Solution:

  • Verify you're signed into iCloud (iOS) or Google Drive (Android)
  • Check available storage space in your cloud account
  • Ensure you have an active internet connection
  • Pro tier required for backup/restore functionality
  • If you're experiencing data loss, please contact the developer immediately at admin@hookedonyutz.com

Notifications Not Working

Problem: Not receiving forecast, river flow, or other alerts

Solution:

  • Check device Settings → Notifications → Get Hooked! and ensure notifications are enabled
  • Verify notification preferences within the app (Settings → Notifications)
  • Intelligence notifications (forecasts, river flow, etc.) require Pro tier
  • Safety notifications (dangerous conditions) are available to all users. These alerts are published by national weather systems and may be delayed or expired

Subscription Support

How do I upgrade to Pro?

Tap "Upgrade to Pro" in the app or visit your forecast/satellite/river screens where Pro features are gated. Follow the prompts to subscribe via App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android).

How do I cancel my subscription?

All subscription management, including cancellations and refunds, is handled directly by Apple (for iOS) or Google (for Android), not by the developer. Your data remains intact even after canceling — you just lose access to Pro features.

Can I get a refund?

All refund requests are handled by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android), not by the developer.

Privacy & Security

Your fishing spots stay secret. Get Hooked! stores everything locally on your device. We don't upload your waypoints, catches, or fishing data to our servers.
